Biointelligence: Designing Future Value Creation | Lecture Series
Schedule: Every Wednesday, 5:00–6:30 PM | starting from 14 October 2026
Assessment: To pass the module, students must attend at least 10 out of 15 lecture sessions and pass a multiple-choice test at the end of the lecture series covering all sessions.
Attendance: The first session (14 October 2026) and the final exam (10 February 2027) are mandatory in person for all students. All other sessions are available in hybrid format.

In this lecture series, you will gain first-hand insights into cutting-edge research and real-world industry applications across three key domains: Biointelligence in smart production systems, in food, nutrition and agriculture, and in personalised health. Each week, a new perspective – presented by leading experts from university research labs, Fraunhofer institutes and biotech startups, bridging the gap between the latest science and what is already being applied in industry today.
Biology is becoming programmable. Artificial intelligence is learning the language of living systems. And engineers, biologists, physicians and data scientists are working together on solutions that none of them could develop alone. Biointelligence describes exactly this interplay – connecting biological, technical and digital systems to create new value chains in healthcare, nutrition, production and sustainability.
This lecture series is designed for students from all disciplines who want to look beyond the boundaries of their own field. Whether you come from engineering, life sciences, computer science, economics or the humanities – Biointelligence is an inherently interdisciplinary topic, and the questions it raises are relevant across all of them. No prior knowledge is required, just curiosity and the willingness to think across boundaries.
